Inside the advertisement for Chrysler, Clint Eastwood left no doubt that he is anything but a conservative. Even the conservative with the smallest amount of brain power would have figured out that he was reciting leftist propaganda once the name “Chrysler” became the apparent star of the advertisement. Had the brand been Ford, the lone company that had the guts and the integrity to go without a government handout, I would have been with Clint. But alas, he chose to throw his talent and support to one of the biggest teat sucking, parasitical corporations in America now, for all intents and purposes, owned by the United Auto Workers.
But, using Clint’s charisma, reputation and tough guy screen image, here is what he would have sounded like and said had a Hollywood director made the commercial and approved the final dialogue:
Hollywood is a wonderful place if you are a fan of fantasy and Clint Eastwood’s reputation as a tough Republican proves just that – they are really good a projecting fantasy even in expressing their personal views.
Clint Eastwood registered and ran for office as a Republican, and he donated a sizable amount to John McCain’s campaign in 2008. Would he have to shoot a gay, Muslim teacher to be more conservative?
Of course he wouldn’t have to do those things. Conservatives are the most confused people on the political planet. They are like religion in that there are so many varieties and philosophies, each more concerned about hypocritical domination than free, principled thinking</a>, of conservative that they’ll never effectively join forces or coalesce with any true degree of effectiveness.
Until they either get together or a group breaks away that emphasizes, almost exclusively, small government [low taxes, global focus for protection/response only, and unfettered capitalism], a strong military for defensive purposes, and allowing individuals, corporations and the states to operate as freely in their own rational self-interest as possible; they will never be a force for reliable improvement or change in governance. Clint Eastwood in this parody is a symbol of the unwillingness of conservatives to think beyond their own parochial interests and operate under an unwavering, principled philosophy of individual rights; especially property rights.
As I noted, had Clint been speaking about Ford, the only automotive corporation to not take a government bailout; then, I would have been fine with the commercial. However, the commercial was made for Chrysler, the biggest failure and loser of the big three, and the company who sucked up lots of taxpayer dollars that will never be returned to the people who earned them. Mr. Eastwood is blessing and praising the benefits [limited as they are] of socialism and government intervention in industry – he is not speaking in praise of liberty or capitalism; synonyms for each other.
