The Massachusetts unemployment compensation claims website has reopened after approximately 26 hours of downtime blamed on a hardware failure:
What the Boston Globe story doesn’t state is that there were also software login changes the shifted access from standard website access to secure access. Prior to this failure on Sunday, the login website was http://www.mass.gov/dua/webcert. It was changed over the weekend of “hardware failure” to https://ipasssecurity.detma.org/ipass/loginnew.asp?ipc=3.
Perhaps, the failure was the result of both a hardware failure and a problem with setting up the software needed to run a secure website. No matter the case, the website is back up and running. People can continue logging in using the old webcert site address. You will be redirected to the newer secure address which will be identified inside your web address bar. The original telephone number has not changed and you can contact Telecert by calling 1.617.626.6338.
I hope that Governor Patrick and the experts who comprise the legislature will come up with a plan that will work to turn around the state economic condition and get people back to work quickly. To those who need this service, I wish you well in getting your lives back by finding satisfactory long-term re-employment.
Again, according to the Boston Globe:
Let’s try to give them sufficient reason for putting their nose to the grindstone instead of to the customary nose in the air assessment of the relative safety of their jobs based on political winds.
