A 36-year-old 185-pound male recently released over police objections attacked a 36 year old, petite, 5-foot tall woman in the Cranberry Plaza parking lot.
An article in the Boston Herald cites convict Lance Porter of Wareham as having a 9-12 year sentence for child rape, but does not provide the actual time served.
The Herald reports the woman to have said afterward that, “I’m a little feistier than I thought.” “I just hope that he can’t come around anymore and can’t hurt anybody anymore.”
Prosecutors sought to have Porter locked up indefinitely as a sexually dangerous person after he finished his prison stint, but he was freed by Plymouth Superior Court Judge Charles M. Grabau. Three psychologists testified he did not meet the criteria [for indefinite confinement], court records show. [Perhaps the victim of this attack should consider suing for malpractice with injury resulting.]
Grabau, who is now retired, said Sunday that he does not remember the case. [They never do remember such cases after retiring]
The victim offered the following advice for fellow citizens:
“Make sure that you are very aware of the sex offenders in your town,” the petite 36-year-old woman told the Herald, still trembling and in shock from the parking lot nightmare. “When I was at the police station, I saw that there are many of them. . . . Be cautious of that because they’re around.”
I agree. Considering the behavior of the judge and the panel of psychiatrists, however, I think it would be a good idea if more citizens sought permits to carry weapons concealed and were held to a low standard for use of such firearms in defending their property, health and lives.
Let’s try to hang onto our 2nd Amendment rights.
