The Boston Globe’s METRODESK reports that the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will hold a special meeting Friday to discuss actions to take regarding the Gloucester Community Arts Charter School. Parts of those actions include revocation of the school charter; however, revocation proceedings could last several months.
The concerns of the board have nothing to do with the quality of education. They have more to do with an embarrassing decision made by the head of the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education disguised as concerns over a last minute change in leadership and possible violations of state construction bidding laws (which most likely saved money) among other concerns.
With the above in mind, consider what you hear in Governor Deval Patrick’s advertisement touting his improvement in targeted and efficient spending on schools and education. I hope you appreciate irony.
