Lawmakers demand aerial spraying for EEE in south eastern Massachusetts:

“The number of mosquito pools to test positive for eastern equine encephalitis has doubled, hitting 30, and lawmakers from Southeastern Massachusetts are pressing state officials to aerial-spray the affected areas.”

Now that entices me to take a vacation along the southern coastline. How about you?

“Aerial spraying in Massachusetts requires a declaration of public health risk from the DPH, according to State Epidemiologist Alfred DeMaria.

In an e-mail Friday afternoon, DPH spokeswoman Julia Hurley said state officials are “continuing to monitor the situation” but had made no decision about aerial spraying, which she said is estimated to cost about $1 million.”

How much does one life equate to in dollars here in the Commonwealth? Have any of you ever seen a person suffer the affliction of EEE? How about the suffering of a child? What are we paying taxes for, if not to protect citizens and preserve a safe environment for them? Until this is resolved, I think I’ll spend most of my free time up in Littleton, NH buying candy at Chutters, or buying books at the Littleton Book Store, watching a movie at JAX’s, or venturing up one ski lift or train tressle to take in the panoramic beauty of the White Mountains
