According to Politics Daily, Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) has made what is most likely the dumbest statement in politics so far this year. Here is what she said:
“Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope,” she told the crowd. “I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington.”
The phrase “great white hope,” referres to a white boxer capable of beathing flamboyant heavyweight champion, Jack Johnson at the turn of the century. In more recent days, Jerry Cooney was looked to as a “great white hope”, ironically, revived by ultra-flamboyant black boxing promoter, Don King.
Between stupid remarks such as this and their wingnut (semi-jihadist) religiousity that invokes memories of the Regnum and Sarcidotium, or the doctrine of two swords, where kings were expected to bow to the high laws of God and average men, women and children were forced to bow and to serve two masters at all times, giving tribute to both Caesar and the church.
