Rep. John Fleming (R-La.), who is also a family physician, has suggested that any member of congress who votes for the public health care option be automatically forced to use the program they consider good enough for those they represent. If it’s good enough for their constituents, then, it should be good enough for them as well. Of course the bill exempts congress altogether, and exempts other federal employees from switching to the public program for three years.
Call me silly, but I think Representative Fleming isn’t being very realistic. We, the people of the United States, have elected each one of these politician to serve US; not to serve themselves. In that vein, it is my view that if a public “option” is approved by the Congress and signed into law by the President; that ALL federal workers, including the Congress, President and members of the U.S. Supreme Court should be immediately switched into it and the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) should be immediately shut down and ultimately eliminated from the government structure when the final bills/benefits have been paid down.
The House of Representatives is also called “The People’s House” – since when do the servants get treated better than the owners? This insanity needs to stop and these pompous idiots need to be put in their place. Consider this the next time you vote, and ask yourself this: If the cook at a restaurant told you that he wouldn’t eat “this slop”, would you like being forced to dine at his restaurant? If the Congress sees the sausage being made and doesn’t like it enough to want any part of it, why should you?
